HOLY HECKIN’ HANNAH IT’S AN UPDATE!
Hello, beautiful creatures. I hope you’re all as well as possible. Like so many of you—probably all of you, if you’re reading this—I’m doing my best to get through these terminal days of the crumbling American empire. Life here in 2025 is already exciting enough, but life here in 2025 as a trans woman?
So, yeah. I’ll spare you the gory details and instead cut to a few of the chases.
Outside the charmed circle OUT OF PRINT
Alas, it’s true: my book Outside the Charmed Circle is officially out of print. The book rights have reverted back to me, so I’m weighing my options. In the meantime, I still have copies of the book to adopt out, so if you’re interested in bringing a new book into your family library, feel free to reach out to me at misha@mishamagdalene.com or through the contact form and I’ll be happy to work with you!
misha on the road
That’s right, I’m making appearances! In person! For real!
First, I’ll be at the Free Spirit Gathering in Darlington, Maryland, on August 5-10, 2025. I’m just attending, rather than presenting anything, but I’m always happy to meet folks and chat. (And if you’re looking to adopt a copy of Outside the Charmed Circle, I’ll probably have a few with me, just in case.)
But then, friends? A few short months later, I’ve been invited to present at the joint Sacred Space/Between The Worlds conference in College Park, Maryland on February 19-22, 2026. I’ll be giving at least one class, and may also be on a panel. Time will tell, and details will be forthcoming. Oh, yes, they will indeed.
what else is new?
Gosh, so much… and yet, so little. Still happily married, still aggravated by my cats, still writing things, still not Queen. No project releases in the immediate future, though there’ve been a couple of recent-ish entries on the Words page: my piece in the Cartomancer tribute to Rachel Pollack and my transition milestone ritual in Enfys’ Book’s Queer Rites, both of which I was honored to be asked to contribute.
As my last update put it… oh, gods, a year ago, I’ve been busy living a life, not as Misha, but as the lady who writes as Misha. The world is rocky, but community is beautiful, and if I don’t have hope, I at least have determination. I resist, because I know of no other way to keep going. I’m reminded, again and again, of that moment in Casablanca where Victor Laszlo draws Rick up short with two simple sentences: “If we stop breathing, we’ll die. If we stop fighting our enemies, the world will die.”
It really is that simple. We resist, because what other choice do we have?
Until next time, friends, don’t get cut breaking any windows. 🖤
